My previous post was Sinai Rosefinch, one of the three species found in Western Palearctic and the biggest of all.(apart from the vagrants and cage escapes)
Great Rosefinch(Carpodacus rubicilla) is only found in Greater Caucasus mountains and you really need to climb high for those high-mountains species. In Kazbegi, you need to climb over 3000 meters by foot in May to get some.
It looks like a strawberry with a bill. :)

What a beautiful bird and a lovely capture showing both colors and patterns of the great rose finch, it reminds me of a red handkerchief, in a good way. :)
