I returned from a 4 days' trek to Himalayas today and started editing some nature pics I took during this trip with my students.
I captured this beautiful butterfly from the Blues family found only at altitude 6000 ft and above. It goes by the name of Powder Green Sapphire. There is just a sentence on this species in the Wikipedia:

Heliophorus tamu, the powdery green sapphire, is a small butterfly found in India that belongs to the lycaenids or blues family.

Hello Ram,
A new species of lycaenids for me and what a beautiful one at that. Looks very dark, I would never have thought it was from the family of blues. Pin sharp and displaying awesome colors, I especially like the metallic blue.
I'm sure you had a great trip with your students to the Himalayas. One more week and I will be in Africa.

Hope you had an wonderful time trekking with the students in the Himalayas. This is one of the most gorgeous blue that I have seen. The details are such that you would feel that the blue powder would come off the wings with the slightest of touch.
