Zanskar Range as seen at horizon from Khardung La Pass (18,380 feetASL) situated at Ladakh range. In between these ranges is Leh city/valley. These places experience heavy snowfall and remain virtually cut off from the rest of the country for several months in the year.

Summers are short, although long enough to grow crops in the lower reaches of the Leh & Suru valley. The summer weather is dry and pleasant, with average temperatures between 1020 C (5070 F), while in winter, the temperature may dip to around −15 C (5 F).

The proportion of oxygen is less than in many other places at a comparable altitude because of lack of vegetation. There is little moisture to temper the effects of rarified air.

Hello Subhash,
Interesting composition!
The melting dirty snow in the FG is echoed by the beautiful range of Ladakh mts. sharply seen in the BG! Great lighting and blue sky.
Full marks for originality!
Thanks for sharing this,
Regards, Ivan

In this lovely mountainscape, the foreground with boulders covered in ice is equally interesting, Subhash.
The panoramic view of Zanskar range is indeed very impressive.
Thanks and regards.

Hi Subhash,

One more dramatic landscape shot, I like your POV and realy effective to explain the athmospere of Ladakh range.TFS.

It has not been a hot summer here but for a few days and that coming after a harsh winter. this is quite the reminder of what may be coming...not the mountains but the coldest of snows...A fine image in an almost military area...but all things considered, I cannot understand why folks would argue over territory that is so rough and rugged....did I tell you I am now friends with the son of Jim Whittaker who climbed Everest for the first for a US in the 1960's? His son is tour manager for REM and they are in the area of yours coming up in a few weeks.. I wll keep you informed.

hello Subhash

excellent landscape shot of these great mountains,
fine POV and DOF with the mountains at the background,
beautiful blue sky, looking at the dirty melting snow
i said that this shot has to be in april and i was right, TFS
