This is another POV for Zanskar mountain range seen at horizon from the Ladakh range (foreground), clicked from the heights' of Khardung La (18,380 feet ASL). Leh city is situated between these two ranges. The road from Leh reaching this altitude is well seen on the left side mountains.

The Ladakh range has no major peaks; its average height is a little less than 6,000 m (19,700 ft), and few of its passes are less than 5,000 m (16,400 ft).

The mountain ranges in Ladakh region were formed over a period of 45 million years by the folding of the Indian plate into the more stationary Eurasian Plate. The drift continues, causing frequent earthquakes in the Himalayan region.

Ladakh is a high altitude desert as the Himalayas create a rain shadow, denying entry to monsoon clouds. The main source of water is the winter snowfall on the mountains.

Hi Subhash,

Beautiful landscape. The white is well exposed and I like the diagonal of the valley. Fantastic place!

Hello Subhash, This is a beautiful landscape. Just superb. Excellent view and great composition. Well done and TFS Ganesh

I like this view even better, Subhash.
The slopes below Khardungla with snow on them put the entire landscape in a fine perspective.
The road to the Pass is also clearly visible against the white snow.
Well done and thanks.

This is beyond a doubt one of your best landscape images Subhash! The clarity and contrasts are perfect. The area is so...well it may be desolate of people but it is full of some spiritual meaning..some deep inner thoughts...just sitting there and looking amazingly at this..I can feel myself drawn in. Memorizing!

Hello Subhash,
A superb capture of a round-bottomed glacial valley in the Ladakh range with a fine horizon of the Zanskar mountain range. I like the POV and composition of the lines of contrast made up of snow and scree.
TFS this fine landscape,

hello Subhash

WOW ! what a splendid landscape shot, very fine POV, DOF
and the way all the mountains are framed on the image,
beautiful colour with excellent density, i love it,
i also love the background between the highlights (snow)
and the shadows (ground), and what a great view
of the mountains of the background with the beautiful sky,

this one Subhash, is the best of your serie of the last 3, TFS

That is a high elevation road to be sure!! Wow, I have never been that high. It is an amazing photograph too. I like following the valley out to the distant moutains. On my monitor the image is a little contrasty... losing some detail in the darker areas. Sometimes contrast can be added selectively to only certain areas. It is still a great shot.

Hi Subhash,

Nice landscape... I've not made it to Himalayas yet! It's quite nice to see this photo, and I wish if I could bike at Kardung Leh next August!
