[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Tsokar/Tso Kar or White Lake is small high altitude brackish lake located in Rupshu Valley in Ladakh. It is a salt water lake which covers an area of about ten square kilometers. Tsokar Lake is rich in huge deposits of impure salt, mostly found on its northern shore. This salt is collected by the Changpas (Nomads) and used as barter to obtain goods from other parts of Ladakh. Tsokar Lake can be approached from Rupshu and Mahe.

This is good for sighting some of the rare wildlife. There some sort of swamps near the lake which attracts birds and grazing animals like wild Tibetan ass (Kiyang). The drive to this lake is very exhausting as roads are almost non-existent. A four-wheeled drive is a good option to do this circuit. If you canít visit both, I recommend Tso Moriri Lake. Tso in Ladakhi means Lake.
