A shot I clicked en route to Dhikala, while on the Sambhar Road...
I'm posting a Chital shot after a long time, but wouldn't like to get into too much detail about them.

The chital (or cheetal) deer, also known as the spotted deer or axis deer is a deer which commonly inhabits wooded regions of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and most of India. It is the most common deer species in Indian forests. Its coat is reddish fawn, marked with white spots, and its underparts are white. Its antlers, which it sheds annually, are usually three-pronged and curve in a lyre shape and may extend to 75 cm. It has a protracted breeding season due in part to the tropical climate, and births can occur throughout the year. For this reason, males do not have their antler cycles in synchrony and there are some fertile females at all times of the year. Males sporting hard antlers are dominant over those in velvet or those without antlers, irrespective of their size and other factors. A chital stands about 90 cm tall at the shoulder and masses about 85 kg. Lifespan is around 20-30 years.

Chital are food for the tiger, and a healthy population of these are needed to sustain a good tiger population.
For those familiar with Jim Corbett National Park, this shot was clicked en route to Dhikala, while on the Sambhar Road...

hello Goldy

excellent photo of these Chitals - Spotted Deers
hided in their environement, fine POV, beautiful luminosity,
excellent sharpness and details, one of the deers eye
has a catch-light and the other deer 's eye has not,
this photo it is a superb example to show how a little
catch-light can render the subject and photo more beautiful,

the one that has the catch-light, his catch-light
it is rendering him on the photo more beautyful,

Hello Goldy,
What a beautiful animal and as your note says an essential part
of the diet of another animal. Great picture... Well done

Super softening approach. That makes this whole image beyond the fact that they are really cool looking animals!

Hello Goldy,
A fine capture of a couple of Chital Deer, partially hidden by the lighting. Here you can see how their spots help to keep them unseen in the undergrowth. A fine contribution to TN and TFS!
All the best,

Hello Goldy,
A very nice shot on this Fallow Deers. Nice pose and direct eye contact. The exposure looks good. Colors and detail are well shown here.
Best regards Siggi

Wow Goldy, Awesome photo of the Chital Deer. The sunlight is playing a great role and you have utilized it to the perfection.

There are about 50,000 spotted dears in kanha and about 20,000 in Pench. No one really stops the safari vehicle to take a snap of these animals but they are beutiful and the capture like this deserve more thatn 10 minuites of break.

Very well composed. I liked this very much.

Hi Goldy,

The point of view is showing the details and colors of the chital deer. The branches and the tree are framing well the deer. The picture is clear and sharp. The luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
