I shot this Rufous Sibia at Pangot during my afternoon forest walk. The perch was right beside the waterhole flanked by bushes on both sides. There were many rufous sibias along with schimitar babblers & thrushes. This sibia came down besides the waterhole & then perched itself on the broken tree trunk. The afternoon light was nice allowing me to maintain a decent shutterspeed.

These birds are residents of the Himalayas. These have black cap, rufous or cinnamon buff nape and underparts. The tail is rufous with a black band and grey tip. The wings are black with grey paneling.

Voice is a clear flute like tee-dee-dee-dee-dee-o-lu..call is rapid chi-chi & alarm is harsh chrai-chrai-chrai.

Habitat: Favors oak forest.

Info from: Birds of Indian Subcontinent by Grimmett, Inskipp & Inskipp.

Thanks for viewing.

Hello Satirtha,
Another top quality image from you, an amazing photo of this beautiful bird. Once again the color tones are in blended perfectly with the BG and you have obtained outstanding exposure and clarity. Wonderful eye contact with a bit of that always sought after...catchlight!

This is my first view of this species of birds, Satirtha.
You have captured it extremely well.
Thanks for sharing another class picture from Pangot.

Hi Satirtha,
Very nice photo, I like it. Acceptable sharpness, great lights and background blur. In my opinion some certain things might be changed (I did in the WS): composition may be more effective with less negative space and the white balance's too much in the red direction. These may even help to improve the otherwise lovely base image.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
