Yellow-tailed Ashy Skimmer

Potamarcha congener

A medium sized dragonfly with bluish black thorax and yellow tail with black markings. Face is olivaceous yellow to steel black or brown. Eyes are reddish brown above and bluish grey below. Thorax is black in adults and covered with bluish pruinescence. In young adults, yellow markings are visible through the pruinescence. Abdomen basal segments are covered with bluish pruinescence.

Usually perches in very high while preying. Now he is over my fatherís fish pond in search for his girl. :)

The blue BG is that of a fish net used to cover the pond.

Taken at Kadavoor, Kerala, India
