An year round seeing butterfly of Kerala, slow flight and the most beautiful among the peridae, the common jezebel satnds high among the butterfly watchers of Kerala. Its common to both wild and village areas.Black wings with red spot boarder on hind wings golden shade the other areas and white patches on the fore wings larvae are thonyl and it feeds on prasitic plants like Dendrophthoe fucata ,Heliantheselastica. etc
As the larvae take toxic alkaloids from the feeding plants these butterflies are safer than the other butterflies from the predators. wings span 66-83mm
