[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sambar Deer (Rusa unicolor) is considered as a vulnerable species according to IUCN. But it is commonly seen in the forests of Kerala. And it is the largest deer species found in India.

Seems to be something bleeding from its neck? It is not a wound. Males and pregnant/lactating female Sambar deers have a spot on their neck from which they sometimes leak a glandular fluid. That is normal.

This photo is from Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady, Kerala, which is one of the areas covered under Project Tiger.

Took this from a moving boat. So used continuous auto focus mode (AF-C in Nikon). Also this is one frame from a series of bursts (continuous high speed), as the deer (in front) was moving .

Pretty and clean picture. Congratulation.

Fabulosa captura, Abhinav!!!
