|Kingfishers have been one of my favorite bird species. So once I saw this Pied Kingfisher, I couldn't resist clicking few pics though it was perched quite far away on one of the many islands inside the marshy Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Had taken a series of shots and this is the only pic that came out as a decent one. I had to crop this image heavily to present it in this form. Not the sharpest by any means; maybe a tripod would have helped.|
These are widespread residents. These Kingfishers have white-streaked black crowns and crests, white supercilium contrasting with broad black eye-strips. The underparts are white with black and white wings & tails.
Habitat: These are found near still waters, slow moving rivers, streams, tidal creeks and pools.

Ciao Satirtha, great capture of lovely kingfisher in nice pose, splendid sharpness, fine details and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
Quite well captured this Pied Kingfisher. Very well focused on it and got perfect BG. Due to harsh sunlight white parts look bit OE, otherwise pleasant picture.
Thanks for sharing,

Hi Sarirtha,a very nice and rich composition showing us this lovely black and white kingfisher, just a bit overexposed but very sharp,i like it! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano
Your kingfisher looks quite contented as it perches among the branches of the tree. Nicely focused and displaying very good eye contact. The exposure is a tad bit high so I tried to adjust it in a WS.
You did a great job with your big lens, Satirtha.
The Kingfisher is well captured with catch-light in its eye.
I have yet to see this species with my own eyes; we have only White-breasted species here in J&K.
