[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is dedicated to Valerie. :D and everybody on TN who are afraid of spiders.

This is a small jumping spider about 4mm to 5mm. I glued a thick convex lens of a old dead pentax film camera infront of my DC and tried to take close up. The result was this.

Hope you all like this small experiment of mine.

Hi Haraprasan,

I hope this very close close-up doesn't frighten Valerie! You did well with this - even the hairs are sharp and clear. Good colors and nice pose on the leaf.

Hola amigo.
Una estupenda macro con unos detalles y nitidez excepcionales.
Luz perfecta y encuadre acertado completan el cuadro.
Un saludo, JL.

Yikes! I'm afraid of spiders and this guy looks like he's about to jump - at me. This is a terrific shot, nice composition, and a really nice macro-micro. Excellent job!

Hello Haraprasan

Excellent focus and sharp detail. The colours are well saturated and the lighting is very good.A wonderful close up of this spider.TFS

Hello haraprasan !
So this is the close-up you told me about in your critique ? Well, it is really very close ! :-) I'm happy that the spider is only on a picture, not in real ! But it's really an impressive picture, with all these eyes and hairy legs. Excellent details on the 'face'. Very well done and thank you for publishing it !

Hi Haraprasan,
Wicked close-up of the spider. Great detail and color for an experiment. Well captured.

Your experiment certainly worked very well Hara.
This is an excellent macro.
Very clear detail and good colour and exposure.
Can you get the lens off again or is it now a permanent macro camera?
Very nice work anyway.

Impressive macro from your experimetal lens.
Excellent sharpness and great DOF.
Well composed too!

Very impressive...very cool!

Hope he is not hungry for humans! Jumping spiders are the worse for an occasional scare. I let one live under my bathroom door (that opened to the outside). Someone would sit down, he would feel the vibrations, come charging out. Small, harmless, and seeing his "prey", he would retreat. I felt he kept outside insects from getting too far in my house! I had a $2000 Olympus digital camera, I bought when I had to sell my house. I taped the lens together with tha large, strong packing tape........ Sionce it fell apart in my lap, in Delhi, in a peddle rickshaw, I jammed it back together, and never could get it apart again, to get the fungus and dust off the lens........ I had always suspected they gave me a used camera in Singapore, and I could then see where the glue was from a repair. The tape prevented it from falling apart again, I could still undo the tape if I wanted to. I wanted to unglue it to clean, but that would not happen, I broke the plastic holding the lens more... so you can try (to mail packages) packing tape in the future maybe, you can undo easily it for cleaning, and it holds. Glue might be final, but can undo without notice....

Hi Hara, amazing shot and WOW what a closeup shot. Lovely yes sometimes i get these in my dreams. Ganesh

Hello Haraprasan,
I like the frontal POV, good DOF and details. I see some over-sharp/over-crop effect, but not bad though..
Good experiment, thanx for the notes on how you tried this one.
Well done.

Hi Haraprasan.
Oh my gosh, that is a close-up, look at all those eyes. Your experiment has worked well.

Buena profundidad y colorido. Todo un reto para el fotógrafo por su forma y textura. Saludos.
