[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Some of the house sparrows who share their dwelling with me are quite familiar with me and now the doesnt mind my sitting in close proximity, This young bird was sitting nereby. I liked the way of sitting and the two reflections, the shadow of the sunlight and the image on the wet surface. I clicked a few shots of the sparrows and posting the first one toady. I really like to watch the activities of these cute little birds.

Details about the species:

The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a member of the Old World sparrow family Passeridae. It occurs naturally in most of Europe and much of Asia. It has also followed humans all over the world and has been intentionally or accidentally introduced to most of the Americas, sub-Saharan Africa, New Zealand and Australia as well as urban areas in other parts of the world.

In the United States it is also known as the English Sparrow, to distinguish it from native species, as the large North American population is descended from birds deliberately imported from Britain in the late 19th century. They were introduced independently in a number of American cities in the years between 1850 and 1875 as a means of pest control.

Wherever people build, House Sparrows sooner or later come to share their abodes. Though described as tame and semi-domestic, neither is strictly true; humans provide food and home, not companionship.

This 14 to 16 centimetre long bird is abundant in temperate climates, but not universally common; in many hilly districts it is scarce. In cities, towns and villages, even around isolated farms, it can be the most abundant bird.

The male House Sparrow has a grey crown, cheeks and underparts, black on the throat, upper breast and between the bill and eyes. The bill in summer is blue-black, and the legs are brown. In winter the plumage is dulled by pale edgings, and the bill is yellowish brown. The female has no black on head or throat, nor a grey crown; her upperparts are streaked with brown. The juveniles are deeper brown, and the white is replaced by buff; the beak is dull yellow. The House Sparrow is often confused with the smaller and slimmer Tree Sparrow, which, however, has a chestnut and not grey crown, two distinct wing bars, and a black patch on each cheek.

An excellent work of art! What is almost as interesting as the subject are the out-of-focus background colors, which almost look like an intentionally placed backdrop. I hope little birdie is not hurt or sick?...it looks quite young. I can't get the birds around here to stand still long enough for a shot, much less sit for a moment! :) Anyway - Congrats!

This is really sharp, Pankaj.
The details are well exposed, giving the colors a very natural tone.
The pose is great, and the reflection balances the composition.
It is also a rather unusual kind of reflection.
I really like this shot.

A beautiful capture of this house sparrow. Here where I live there used to be many of them when I was a child. Now it is very rare to see. Anyway nice reflections and very good details and notes. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Brilliant, Pankaj!
Technically excellent, this shot shows in a very fine composition what a nice little reflection, pose and POV can do to make a shot of a common bird, like this female House Sparrow, into something unique!

Your eye for composition is just super. If one takes away the reflection, it becomes a mediocre picture, but add the reflection and it becomes synergistic. You have in some way shown the latent energy of spirit int he bird. Very well done my friend.

Lovely creative shot Pankaj, unusual. The sparrow is so sharp with great detail, he seems to be resting and enjoying your company. I love the reflection - is it on a steel or metal surface? Light and colours are wonderful with perfect dof. Great work.
