|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
Most are Phytophagous while some Entomophagous. Voracious feeders - pests as far as agriculture is concerned. Moths especially cause more damage to fruits and agri-produce during the caterpillar stage. Have 4000 muscles(Compare this with man's 629) and move by contraction in the rear muscles to push blood forward elongating the body.
Poor eyesight, rely on the antennae to find food. The hairy caterpillars, like the one here use the bristles as defense. These hair like setae lodge into the skin and cause irritation. But even this does not deter some birds. The bristles can be poisonous in some moth larvae.
Was taken in Omkar hills forest area. Nice place for Macro photography.
