Hi all,
As Murali had mentioned earlier we had a good haul at Mavathur last week end and this is one of them(a rare one too).

This is Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus), which is found from southwestern Europe and northern Africa to southern Asia. In Egypt it is called the Pharaoh’s Chicken for two reasons. It looks somewhat like a scruffy white chicken in fresh plumage, and the relationship to the pharaoh is because this bird was the symbol of perhaps, the oldest deity of southern Ancient Egypt, Nekhbet, who was considered the protector of the pharaoh, royalty, and Egypt and always shown with her extended wings.

THIS IS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES

Goutham,

Great picture. Pity we saw it when the Sun was high in the skies. You have captured it casting a non-challant confident look including catch light in the eye. Nice two color background too.
