Hello Subhash,
Checking my Birds of Northern India book I see it most likely is a Verditer Flycatcher being listed as a local commom resident of Uttaranchal.
It looks very nice in the red leaf tree. TFS Richard
Dear Dr. Ranjan,
Mr. Richerd identified the bird correctly. It is Verditer Flycatcher or Eumyias thalassina. During winter they move to plain and in summer you can find them in Himalayan area from high hills of Jammu to north east states (1200-2700). Last January I visited the forest areas near Pinjore to watch the vultures where I saw this species in large number. According to government record the bird is now less common (2).Also thanks for such a beautiful picture.
Partha Sarathi.
Hi Subhash,
An excellent shot of this rare fly catcher with good POOV and DOF.
