Coccinella septempunctata on Tricholepis amplexicaulis.

Coccinella septempunctata.
Common name: Seven-spot ladybird.
This is the most common ladybird. Its elytra are of a red colour, but punctuated with three black spots each, with one further spot being spread over the junction of the two, making a total of seven spots, from which the species derives both its common and scientific names (from the Latin septem = "seven" and punctata = "spots").
C. septempunctata has a broad ecological range, living almost anywhere where there are aphids for it to eat. Both the adults and the larvae are voracious predators of aphids.
C. septempunctata has been introduced to North America as a biological control agent to reduce aphid numbers, and has been subsequently designated the official State insect of six different states (Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee).

Tricholepis amplexicaulis.
Common Hindi name: Dahan.
Plant: 1-2.5m tall. Erect annual herb.
Leaves: 7-12cm long. Alternately arranged, stalkless, linear-oblong, and have toothed margin with spines in them.
Flower: 2-5cm across. The involucre, or the rounded base of the flower-head, is broad and densely covered with spines.

hello Nirmal,
We are neighbours today! It is a very charming picture you show here. Interesting contrast between the smooth surface of the ladybird and the stingy outside of this special plant. Good composition;the sharpness of the subject is just right.
have a nice evening

salut Nirmal,
spécialiste des fleurs vous avez quand même une coccinelle dans votre galerie :)
Belle macro avec un bon pov, la lumière chaude apporte le petit plus à l'ensemble.

Hi Nirmal,
Fascinant plant and excellent shot.
