Metalic wood boring beetles

Where found: All most everywhere. Where there is wood there are beetles
Habitat: Wooded areas...they love dead wood and some of the uncivilized of them eat fresh live trees.
Vital stats: length between 3 to 100 mm.
Types: nearly 15,000 types of jewels...cooooollll
Speciality: the color you see is not a pigment on the skin but light bouncing off the cuts and curves on their exoskeleton or the shell.

thanks for looking

Hello Vinay,
you show a brilliant and sharp frontal view of this bug. Colours and reflectance are nicely reproduced.
The insect stands out well against the uniform and smooth background.
The insect you show is not a beetle but a Heteroptera bug from the
family Scutelleridae with some 400 species world wide.
I don't know the exact species identitiy but it looks like Chrysocoris stolli.
'fartash' posted a similar specimen to TN earlier.
Best wishes, Peter

o my god ! this is fantastic !

i have try i a workshop

hello vinay,
lovely macro shot, the oof dull green bg offers good contrat to the colorful jewel bug, the metallic shine looks so beautiful, precise dof and sharp focus, the overexposed patch at the back of the insect could have been cloned out,
well done and i am looking forward to more macro shots from you,
tfs & regards
pankaj

Hello Vinay,
Thank you for your kind words on my recent butterfly picture.
I notice you are shaping up with the gifted school of nature photographers in Bangalore.
Great opprtunity to learn from people like Goutham, Satish and Murali.

Your image of a Jewel Bug is very attractive all in all. The colours are natural and good to look at. Maybe the focus has gone a bit soft at the rear.
I also like your POV.
Keep shooting and all the best.
