Very nice in-flight shot of this fly. I think it belongs to the Bombyliidae family. It will be difficult to identify I think as it is from India. I could find a species which looks like yours on the site diptera.info, toxophora sp., but there is no other similar picture to be found on the net.

Unfortunately I can't help with the id but the shot is very nice. I especially like the pollens on the proboscis, TFS.

I Know for sure how difficult its to shoot this fella with hand held camera and that too in manual focus. Excellent sharp pic with good focus and composition
