I wanted to share this picture just to add this to my collection of raptors on TN. This is no pretty picture and definitely does not do justice to this fine and majestic bird.
I had been going to Hesarghatta lake many times and this resident of Hesarghatta has been elusive. Yesterday, when we went to the lake, we spotted this. We tried our best to get close to this and took a long shot first from 15 ft. Then we tried to get close. As is usual with raptors, The White-eyed Honey Buzzard has a keen sense of risk and flies of if you try to get anywhere closer to the bird than 10ft. I was driving the car and Amar and Sunil were taking pictures from the left side window. I stepped out of my car and used the windshield as support to shoot this. Throughout the morning, it was playing hide and seek with us, but never allowing us any closer than 15 ft.

I disagree. I think it is a lovely photo. I really like it. The greenery in front is nice. Sharpness is good. The pose is attractive. The soft background is lovely. I really like the limited palette of color. I think it is nice as it is but I tried a bit of a crop to move the buzzard a bit more off center and to make him a bit larger in the frame. It is just an idea.

very good try to show this beautiful white eye, which one can make out with ease. yes, the image quality is not to the standard but this is how we start to achieve great images. wish you will get good one in your next visit. take care of exposures and do some color balance. if you are looking in to future with photography better think of getting some good lens. tfs.
