|The Oriental Darter or Indian Darter (Anhinga melanogaster ), sometimes called Snakebird, is a water bird of tropical South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is a cormorant-like species that has a very long neck. It often swims with only the neck above water. It is a fish-eater.|
"The Oriental Darter differs in appearance from American darters most recognisably by its white lateral neck stripe. It builds a stick nest in a tree and lays 3-6 eggs.
The Oriental Darter is a member of the darter family, Anhingidae, and is closely related to American (Anhinga anhinga), African (Anhinga rufa), and Australasian (Anhinga novaehollandiae) Darters." (wikipedia)
The Oriental Darters are considered a Globally Threatened species. In 1993, there were only 1526 oriental darters left in the world (water-fowl sensus). Of which,1196 were in India (64 in the state of Kerala). Suddenly, this bird captured the imagination of bird lovers all over India and as a result of their efforts, their numbers are increasing day by day.. Now a days, these birds are fairly common in Kerala..

Yours picture is verry nice with good details and colours.
Interesting position in flight of this big bird.
Another great shot from your hand and lens. I really like the full sunlight captured on the Darter's beautiful feathers as well as on its head. The shine on the black wings as well as the neck shaped so beautifully are shown with great clarity and detail. The flying motion is captured well, showing no evidence that the bird is actually moving. A great shot indeed. I do appreciate you moving your copyright note to the side, now the view is clear and a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Excellent capture. Excellent colours and details.
Very nice composition and POV.
