[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,
This is Black-shouldered Kite (Elanus axillaris) shot at Maidanahalli Black Buck Sanctuary, We were 3 guys in the car when we noticed this (Satish and Chandrashekar were the other 2). As Satish was approaching this bird it gave us few seconds to shoot and this is what I got! The reason that I'm happy about this shot is that I shot this bird on something natural ( its an Aloe Vera flower ), Usually we find this on electrical wires on this part of the country.

Fantastic shot of this beautiful Falconida, sharp as razorblade and minimalistic, yet interesting composition. Great exposure, too. Fantastic job, congrats and tfs.

There's one thing I don't understand: all sources mention this species has distribution area only in Australia. How were You able to photograph him / her in India?

you are right it is more beautiful and more natural on trees/plants
than on a electrical wires, an excellent photo of the Black-shouldered Kite,

You lucky guy :),Lovely image of the majestic raptor, it was dream come true perch, unfortunately myself satish could not get this, you could get it in flash of second, wish you could include more of the Aloevera flower and make a vertical compostion.

indeed very beautiful capture of this kite. The sharpness and clarity is well documented. the pose is so special and it really depicts the strength and view of a predator.
I like the blue sky that gives a lively background, making this shot pretty and well composed.
