Just Emerged Common Lime
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Yesterday at Cauvery wildlife sanctuary ... near Kanakapura about 100 Kms from Bangalore ... it was raining common limes , there were thousands of them! early morning we found this emerging and I took this shot ( This is not a crop ).
Used a macro rail and a tripod.
Papilio demoleus, the Common Lime Butterfly, is a common and widespread Swallowtail butterfly. It gets its name from its host plants which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies it does not have a prominent tail. The butterfly has also been referred to as the Citrus swallowtail, a name it shares with a morphologically similar species, Papilio demodocus which flies in Africa. Hi Goutham
The image cannot be sharper. Great details and beautiful colors. The wings looks as though they were woven on a loom. The background is perfect and let the insect stand out freely.
Bravo

Hello Goutham,
What a splendid butterfly!!! The details are amazing and you managed greatfully the exposition in order to obtain the nuances within the black and white. The darker bg enhances also so well the light colors of this papilio!
Very well done and TFS,
Michel
