[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
i found this bird on 1st April, 2012... close to the river Jayanti... being summer, Jayanti had already dried up and turned into a narrow flow.
but you should have seen this riven in monsoon! it becomes wild then.

1st April, 2012 was a bright, sunny day. it was around 11:30 AM when i reached the riverbed. and i saw this bird there... strolling alone. no other similar bird was there. the bird was lonely.

the bird was looking for something. as if a place in the rocks where it could sit on its chest.. every time it tried that, somehow was not satisfied, and opted for another place... as long as i was there, i saw the bird performing that ritual only... couldn't understand why...

may be, it was looking for some wet and cold rocks... the day being extremely hot, it could be a possible reason... don't know :-/

giving a photograph of that gesture, in the workshop. so that the mood can be guessed :)

River Lapwing (Vanellus duvaucelii) is a bird which belongs to the family 'Charadriidae' and "is distributed from northern India and Nepal to south-central China and Indochina. it is found on rocks, sand banks and shingle banks near rivers."

this bird is also known as 'Asian Spur-winged Lapwing'.

and it was for the first time i saw a River Lapwing...

[okay okay! no need to be excited. and no sympathy, pls :) every body has got their firsts. it's just... time! :D]

PS: please see the workshop image and see if you can guess the reason behind that ritual it was performing... it may not be that serious... but just, ...curiosity!

Bonjour Ruby,
Agréable valorisation du sujet malgré un manque de contraste avec son environnement.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
