[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was delighted to see a White Cheeked Barbet sitting on a chickoo tree just above me. Had tried to shoot this bird so many times but very difficult to find it due to the colour.

The White-cheeked Barbet or Small Green Barbet (Megalaima viridis) is a species of barbet found in southern India. It is very similar to the more widespread Brown-headed Barbet (or Large Green Barbet) (Megalaima zeylanica) but this species has a distinctive supercilium and a broad white cheek stripe below the eye and is endemic to the forest areas of the Western Ghats and adjoining hills. The Brown-headed Barbet has an orange eye-ring but the calls are very similar and the two species occur together in some of the drier forests to the east of the Western Ghats. Like all other Asian barbets they are mainly frugivorous although they may sometimes eat insects and they use their bills to excavate nest cavities in trees.

Very nice capture of this lovely Barbet up there in the foliage of a tree, Siv.
The image presents the bird beautifully in its natural habitat. The colours are very attractive and soothing.

Excellent photo of this White-cheeked Barbet in great sharpness, details and a very good composition. Nice to see it in its natural habitat. Beautiful natural colours.

The colours of the barbet and the foliage are so well matched as seen here, it sure is tricky to get this bird sometime. So well done for this nice sharp catch. A little unlucky with the sky just behind the beak reduces the impact a wee bit..
