|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This photo was taken during my recent trip to Binsar. These are residents of the Himalayas, North East & Bangladesh. The great Barbet is the largest of all Barbets & unmistakable with the large pale yellow bill, violet blue head, brown mantle & olive streaked yellowish underparts. Call is a monotonous & incessant phio phio uttered throughout the day.|
Managing the light was tricky as the Barbet was perched on the branch & was against the light.

I haven't seen this Barbet in our area, Satirtha. Well captured. Darun rong......Nicely framed.
Thanks for sharing
I envy you for capturing such a clear picture of this Barbet, Satirtha. This bird has been on my wish list for years - in fact, since my younger days when I was still living in my village in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Years later in 2009 when I had a DSLR camera, I tried to capture it during my visit to my native place. Unfortunately, it was quite out of range of my 70-300mm lens and I ended up with a distant shot not to my satisfaction at all. You will find it in my postings of that year here on TN.
Despite back-light, you have captured it with its eye clearly in view and that is the most significant aspect of a bird picture.
Well done and thanks for sharing your prized picture!
