[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As usual I have captured this beautiful Kingfisher in our yard when it was sitting on a mango tree. It was a rainy day early in the morning and light was really low. I used high ISO here, ISO 4000; f/8.

The Stork-billed Kingfisher (Pelargopsis Capensis) is a tree Kingfisher. This is a very large Kingfisher.

THE SHAPE OF THE BILL IS SO UNIQUE AND LOOKS MUCH LIKE A BILL OF STORK, WHICH SUGGESTS THE COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIES.

* Distribution - Tropical Indian subcontinent and South-East Asia; India to Indonesia
* Size - 35 to 38 cm
* Color - Green back, blue wing and tail. Grey head. Underparts and neck are buff. Legs and bill is bright red.

* There are 15 races, mostly differing in plumage details.

Hi Srikumar,taken in a difficult light and with a very very high ISO,the result is the best as possible,but you works very hard with the noise reduction in PP and i can see that,but still an excellent capture and very good colors.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Srikumar,
A stunning shot of this gorgeous bird. Focus is tac sharp allowing us to view it's plumage in fine detail. Colors are vivid yet natural and the exposure couldn't be any better. I love the eye contact with a bit of that ever sought after catchlight. Nice clean BG. Lovely!!!

Hi Sri,
Even with the very high ISO your background's completely noise-free, and even seems moving. :-) The kingfisher is a touch oversharpened, however, the composition's absolutely eye-pleasing and the colors are natural, in spite of the low light you mentioned in your note. Overall, a good shot.
