I saw 6 butterflies mud-puddling on the unpaved surface of a parking lot today afternoon. One of them was a Blue Jay and the others were Common Emigrants. I zoomed onto these three for better viewing; the size restriction here on TN sucks!
Wikipedia has something to say about mud-puddling:

Mud-puddling, or simply puddling, is a behaviour most conspicuous in butterflies, but occurs in other animals as well, mainly insects; they seek out certain moist substances such as rotting plant matter, mud and carrion and they suck up the fluid. Where the conditions are suitable, conspicuous insects such as butterflies commonly form aggregations on wet soil, dung or carrion. From the fluids they obtain nutrients such as salts and amino acids that play various roles in their physiology, ethology and ecology. This behaviour also has been seen in some other insects, notably the leafhoppers, e.g. the potato leafhopper, Empoasca fabae.

Hello Ram,
A neat shot of this fine looking trio. Focus appears sharp, giving us a great look at their wing structure and markings. Beautiful colors and a good job on exposure considering the full sun overhead.
I understand your frustration with the size limitation. I have posted images that looked great on my computer but after resizing and posting, the detail seems to have diminished quite a bit.

Hello Ram,
Difficult POV...from such distance to the ground. Nice specie of butterflies.

hallo Ram
very nice place for you
good dtails and beautiful colours
sharpness is also very good
thanks gr lou
