[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This pair of Laughing Doves came to our bird feeder on our terrace today afternoon. After feeding, they settled down for a rest on the parapet. They allowed me to get quite close to them to take pictures with my compact camera. Here is one of those pictures.

The laughing dove (Spilopelia senegalensis) is a small pigeon that is a resident breeder in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East east to the Indian Subcontinent. This small long-tailed dove is found in dry scrub and semi-desert habitats where pairs can often be seen feeding on the ground. A rufous and black chequered necklace gives it a distinctive pattern and is also easily distinguished from other doves by its call. Other names include palm dove and Senegal dove while in India the name of the little brown dove is often used. It was introduced in Western Australia and has established itself in the wild around Perth and Fremantle.

Hello Ram,
Pigeons and doves have been a favorite bird of mine since a young boy, this is certainly a lovely pair. The wires may be a bit distracting, but I must say you have photographed your subjects very well. Another winner image from your compact camera.
The focus is tac sharp giving us a great look at their beautiful plumage and the exposure is perfect. Love the mixture of subtle color tones and attractive markings, especially the rufous and black checkered breast. Great eye contact with a bit of catchlight visible.
