Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Orthoptera
Suborder: Caelifera

Interesting Behaviors:
Feeding: Although they eat many things, they still have preferences. Mating behavior: See how male courts female. Egg-laying: Female digs hole with abdomen. Some grasshoppers spit a brown bitter liquid as a defensive behavior in response to being handled. Use a piece of white paper and gently wipe the grasshopper's mouth if the spit is not evident. Before molting, grasshoppers do not eat and become less active. During the molt, they swallow air to build up pressure to split the old cuticle.

Hi Ganesh,
Interesting to compare your shot with Goutham's! Quite a different effect, by using flash you get the highlights, the black background and greater sharpness, but it looks more natural without the flash. The antennae are better here. Both shots have different good merits!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Also your shot is good as your friend!
The light and atmosphere is great.

Hello Ganesh

What an amazing capture!
I've just visited Goutham's post and it drawn my attention to this one. It's most impressive what you managed to obtain with a film camera :)
The details, textures and patterns on the subject are formidable here!
Also the contrast between the subject and the BG is amazing and the colors and tones are charming and well saturated.
Very beautiful work!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Ganesh,
Thats a beautiful grasshopper, The green bits really make a confusing statement by this grasshopper as if he hasnt decided if he wants to use green caumoflage or brown. Offcourse the vision of its predators is different from ours.
