The Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes sp.)

Nepenthes sp or usually called as pitcher plant is native primarily to the Tropics. This exotic plant forms wonderful hanging pitchers that are sure to attract attention. For the plants, these pitchers are used for attracting insects, once insects fall into this pitcher, they will not be able to climb the slippery inner wall of the pitcher; consequently, insects will be trapped inside, and slowly digested by the plant….
Yes, pitcher plant or Nepenthes is a carnivore plant!

Some are vines while others form rosettes. Most make two or more types of pitchers: lower pitchers are often more rotund and arise from stems closer to the ground, upper pitchers are often more slender, small and arise from extended leaf midrib.

This is a picture of upper pitcher. You may see that this pitcher was formed at terminal end of extended midrib of its leaf. I will share with you a picture of lower pitcher later.

Hi Ben,
I have always been interested in the insect eating plants. I had a few at home, but being that these plants need really good care, they slowly died.
This is a beautiful composition with a nice OOF BG. I like the way you isolated just one single pitcher. Great colors and perfect sharpness.

Hello Ben,
These plants are fascinating and there must be many different species in your surroundings. Very nice shot of this single pitcher, sharp details and great colours against the diffuse background. I look forward to the next one!
TFS, Ulla

Your description of this natural phenomenon astonishes me, Benyamin. I never thought plants could be carnivorous!
Beautiful picture that shows this trecherous pitcher in all its glory. It looks like a jug with an open lid and a solid handle attached to the body. Great POV, DOF, colours and details too.
I am eager to look at the other pitcher you have promised to post next.
Your frame is exquisite. How did you make it? Sorry, daft question! :-)

Casi un ejemplo de la naturaleza de la tendencia artística llamada minimalismo Ben, con un perfecto foco y el consecuente OOF del fondo, apropiados foco, colorido y agudeza, y un acertado encuadre.
Un simple y estética composición.
