[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a common butterfly of the Papuan lowlands. This photo was taken on the lower slopes of Cyclops Mountain which is walking distance from the Sentani airport (serving Jayapura). Thanks to help from TrekNature members I learned that this is an Amathusiid butterfly Taénaris Artémis.

Hi Marc

Welcome to TN.

This is an amazing looking butterfly. I am astounded at the enormous amount of different species there are. This is one of the reason I love Treknature. We are constantly being introduced to new wildlife. Nice work. TFS.

Héllo, thanks for showing this butterfly Taénaris Artémis Artémis , morphinaé family, is first natural pic on web for me Photo taken with nice colour and composition in spite of conditions and flash used. Congretulation Best regards Dany

Hello Marc,
Fine sharp shot of this Amathusiid butterfly, a first for me. Though one would like to see it a bit closer the comp. is a good way to roughly show what size it is.
TFS and regards, Ivan

Hi Marc,
I'm not an expert in butterflies at all, but this one seems to me rare and surely beautiful. Thank you for this orinal contribution.
TFS, José M.

What a unique butterfly with those strong eye-spots staring back at me intently, Marc!
Dany has given you some lead about its identity; I suggest you go ahead with some research and post a nice detailed note with this picture.
Apparently, you are new to the site, so welcome and feel free to seek help if you face any difficulties.
Keep shooting and all the best to you.

Hello Mark , Fantastic shot ,from this butterfly , beauty colours compositie sharpnes ,good job Greetings Teunie ,And Welcom to tn .

Hello Marc
Excellent shot and wonderful capture! This is a strange butterfly to me, but it's so beautiful! The picture is very well managed, but I would have cropped it a bit to enhance the beauty of the butterfly. I hope you don't mind but I have tried a workshop and I hope you like it.
Best wishes

Welcome to TN Marc... very nice macro with marked details of butterfly.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, color, lighting, background.

I like it: framing (something big and lightly centered), notes.

I don't like it: nothing to grumble.

In spite of the use of flash, the illumination is very good without burning the white areas of the wings.
Good work... thank you for sharing.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hi Marc,

With best regards,
