This, previous and further postings should be understood as a contribution to increase the knowledge on insects of Sulawesi.

I could not identify this species of the family Libellulidae for sure, although there are much more available informations on South East Asian dragonflies compared to other insect groups, except for butterflies.

Hallo Peter
You have captured this dragonfly with very good sharpness and nice light. It looks as if it just have been painted and waiting for the paint to dry. The red body is a real eye catcher. This is a superb macro of this beautiful and striking insect. The colours is vivid and warm. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards

Hello Peter,
Sulawesi must be a fantastic island to visit!
A fine capture of this beautiful red Sulawesian Libellulid dragonfly taken from a fine lateral POV with good focusing and fine sharpness that should enable an expert to name it. It contrasts well with the natural OOF green BG.
Thanks and best wishes,

Hello Peter,

A supernatural clarity!

I'm taking a walk in your theme of dragonflies, as you suggested, really exciting, each image is a waste of quality.
