[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture is dedicated to our friend Radomir 'cicindela'!

These series of postings are intended to increase the knowledge on Sulawesi's biodiversity. Except for butterflies, little is known on most other insect groups and on spiders of this huge island. Many new species can be expected to be discovered. Large parts of Sulawesi are only poorly explored also with respect to butterflies, such as the south-eastern Peninsula, Sulawesi-Tenggara.

The picture shows an as yet
... unidentified ladybird species.
Family: Coccinellidae

Porabua (Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia), a small village in the vast moutaineous and rain-forest covered area of Souteast-Sulawesi. I visited this tourist-free place now for the second time. People confirmed that no 'white' man visited this place since my last trip nearly 4 years ago.

Hi Peter,
Different ladybird ...
One type of successful detection and macro photo.
Depth of field, color and sharpness in the macro value.
Best wishes,

Wow—what detail you have captured here (even the hair on the leaves)! On my monitor it looked a little brown (and indeed it may have been brown in real life). But I had a nagging desire to bring out the red... have a look at my workshop.

Hallo Peter,
Hübsches kleines Käferlein, das auf Deinem Bild ganz goldig, im WS eher rötlich aussieht. Ich vermute, dass Dein Bild der Realität näher ist. Du scheinst also in ganz vom Tourismus abgeschirmte Gegenden zu gehen! Und bist scheinbar noch in Erinnerung geblieben. Schön, nicht?
Wünsche einen sonnigen Nachmittag (bei uns ist es endlich wieder soweit)
Herzlich grüsst

Ciao Peter, beautiful macro of lovely ladybird with fine details and splendid sharpness, perfect focus and wonderful DOF, great colors, very well done, buon week end, ciao Silvio

Hello Peter!
What a great beetle dedication for me! I am really honoured :> Many, many thanks! :> Picture is very good, quality is 1st class and the close-up very good. This is a picture I always wanted to take - a convex small beetle like Coccinelidae or Chrysomelidae, as for now with no good results...
Once again many thanks Peter!!!
All the best and have a nice weekend!

PS. I remember that you wrote something about tiger beetles from Indonesia, it would be nice to see some of this pictures some day ;>
