This shot was taken at the Akkan crane over wintering site (see earlier postings). I was using my 300mm 2.8 + 1.4x converter.

The sea-eagles are a group of birds of prey in the genus Haliaeetus in the bird of prey family Accipitridae.

Sea-eagles vary in size, from the Sanford's Fish-eagle averaging 2–2.7 kg to the huge Steller's Sea-eagle weighing up to 9 kg. At up to 6.9 kg, the White-tailed Eagle is the largest eagle in Europe. Bald Eagles can weigh up to 6.3 kg, making them the second largest eagle native to North America. The White-bellied Sea-eagle can weigh up to 3.4 kg.

There are eight living species:

White-bellied Sea-eagle (H. leucogaster)

Sanford's Sea-eagle (H. sanfordi)

African Fish-eagle (H. vocifer)

Madagascar Fish-eagle (H. vociferoides)

Pallas's Fish-eagle (H. leucoryphus)

White-tailed Eagle (H. albicilla)

Bald Eagle (H. leucocephalus)

Steller's Sea-eagle (H. pelagicus)

Three obvious species pairs exist; White-tailed and Bald Eagles, Sanford's and White-bellied Sea-eagle, and the African and Madagascar Fish-eagles. Each of these consists of a white- and a tan-headed species, and the tails are entirely white in all adult Haliaeetus except Sanford's, White-bellied, and Pallas's

Hi James

Wow!!! this is just...wow!
Now that i'm thinking of it, i don't know why i never associated your name with in-flights...after this one, i won't make the mistake anymore, i'll tell you that!
This is a splendid shot of this magnificent eagle pictured on a perfect blue BG! The details and colors here are just impressive and the pose you managed to capture it in here is just...graceful!
There is one very small thing i would have been tempted to chance though: the amount of room in front of the eagle...but that's just nit picking ;)
Anyway, an outstanding image!

Bravo and TFS

Hello James,
impressive capture of the remarkable wingspan of this eagle of sea.
....excellent presentation!!!

best regards sERGIO

hello James

AOUTCH ! what a sipuerb inflight shot of this sea-eagle,
excellent POV that show's us the excellent sharp details
of the eagles and eagles wings underparts, excellent contrast,
lovely blue sky, excellent density of the colours,

just one thing James and i just want to be more useful
than a critiquer, i love the vertical framing but the eagle
is too on the center of the image, i kno that is more easy to write
now than to shoot it in the action to leave more space in front
of the eagle, that can be in the PP of the photo too, too many times
is in my images editing that i do the framings because in my shots
the subjects are in the center of the image

TFS for this great shot James, soon i'll do a personnal theme
on the eagles and this image will go on it

Hi James, very excellent colour and detail seen on this shot of your Sea-eagle, and while providing great light on the shadow regions the highlights are still very well defined. The use of a portrait frame works well in this shot, accentuating that wing spread. Very nice.

Thanks, John

Wonderful shot of the sea-eagle. Do you think a litlle cloud as BG would make the shot more dramatic? Anyway, Overall shot is great.

Hello James,
We have White-tailed Eagles here during the winter but it is very rare to be able to take a shot like this one. This in-flight of an adult is superb in every way showing fantastic plumage details from below and the turned head gives us a fine view of the beak and eyes.
Thanks for sharing this impressive image,
Ivan

Hi James,

Hi James,
This is an impressive bird and picture! What a beauty! Details, exposure and composition are outstanding. You must be proud of this great capture. TFS,

Hi James

I thought I'd critique some of your older material and arrived at this one fabulous photo. Magic stuff. I could never get these in-flight shots sorted out like you and some of our other esteemed friends manage to do. Then I read what Asbed said about the space in front and imagined I could try my hand at a workshop just for the fun. See if you like it.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. I was just again reminded at what a wealth of amazing postings you have done the last year and four months. You are definitely one of TrekNature's worthy contributors.
