Rhinoceros Hornbill-Courtship
Rihnocerous Hornbill are known for its courtship.This is one such photo.Here male & female are sharing the food,which is one of the essential requirement of a bonding & courtship(Female is with white eye)
One of the largest Hornbill, weigh 2-3kg and 1.1-1.3mts in length It makes dramatic whooshing sound while on flight .Female lay eggs in tree trunk. It stays inside trunk and will not come out until the egg hatches and chicks are grown. When eggs are laid,male seals off completely the entrance of the trunk with mud except a small hole through which it feeds the female and chicks. |
