[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Proboscis Monkey is found only on Borneo Island. I photographed this specimen in the Bako National Park, in the Malaysian province of Sarawak.

Large males, like this one, can weigh over 20 Kilo and be around 70 cm in height.

They came every morning, in the mangrove trees, near the ocean, to eat the large leaves.

Their swollen bellies are due to the large quantity of leaves that they have to consume, since it is not a very nutritious food.

It was quite fascinating to see them jump from one tree to the other and realize how agile and strong they are.

The park was also host to other species of monkeys like the Macaques and the Silver Leaf, both small compared to the Proboscis.
