Black & Yellow Broadbill
(Eurylaimus ochromalus) 黑黄阔嘴鸟
Size: 15 cm
Location – Panti Forest Reserve (Johor/Malaysia)
Description:
Unmistakable; note small size, broad bill, and yellow on wings and back; pinkish under-parts show in front view.
Voice:
An accelerating trill, 7-11 sec long.
Habits:
Found in primary and mature secondary lowland rainforest. Occurs up to 900m on Sumatra. Not often seen because of its small size. It feeds mainly on insects, high in the middle and upper storeys of the forest. It’s possibly more numerous than sightings suggest. Once its call is learned, this species may be recorded more often.
Distribution:
Extinct resident breeder in Singapore. |
