regarding that you came close to this shy and fast flying species, the picture is pretty good with respect to sharpness in particular of the forewing, head and antennae. A slightly different angle could have produced more sharpness also on the hindwings. But often optimal conditions cannot be achieved.

A nice shot on this Common Bluebottle. Some nice quality light and a good exposure have the colors and detail in this looking good. I like the unique colors and wing patterns of this butterfly.
