Hairy-Backed Bulbul
(Tricholestes criniger)
Size: 17 cm
Location: Ulu Langat (KL)
Description:
Note the diagnostic yellow patch around eye contrasting with olive-brown crown; small and stocky build.
Voice:
A short chatter with whistling notes.
Habits:
Found in lowland rainforest, both primary and nearby secondary growth. Often seen along forest edges and cleanings where it come down to the middle storey, occasionally at eye-level, feeding on small berries and insects. Its nest has not been studied. |
