Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher -

This little gem measures no more than 6.5 cm (2 1/2 inches) and was a long wait for it to appear.

Taken under heavy canopy cover with minimal fill flash so as not to alter the sheen of the feathers.

This is a migrant for the area where it was photographed
1D MkIII + EF600mm + 1.4II ext (1/20s f/8.0 ISO500 EV +1/3 Fill Flash -3)

This is something different. Very beautiful original photo. What an amazing colours. Fantastic POV, composition and pose. A bit noise in the BG is a pity.

I don't think I have ever seen or heard of this bird... defin itely has the makings of a Kingfisher... :) Excellent composition, great detail and POV. Beautifully caught and presented... TFS Phil... :)
