The Common Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis)

I have been searching this green bird for quite sometime. The caretaker of Jelai Resort told me that 'Murai Hijau' can be found in front of his resort, but you must be very early - before 7.00am!. I arrived there at 7.20am, setup my gear in the very misty fogy weather. Greater Racquet-tailed Drongo flew onto the wire cable. I sat my camera at +2 EV compensation and took a few shots. All turn out white, flash accentuated the fog.
Suddenly the large green bird with chirpy song came foraging just in front of me, about 15 feet away. Wow!.. this is the bird I have been searching for so long. I all the excitement, I fired a burst of shots. Forgetting the camera +2 setting, it turn out all over exposed. As luck was on my side, that Jade Bird came back, this time I was ready with correct set-up and gun blazing!
Full framed shots, no crop at all in the first picture. (Rarely that I got wild bird captured in full framed, except for yellow-vented bulbul.)

What a beauty, Redzlan.
I am so glad you got a second chance at capturing this very exotic bird.
You must have been thrilled.
Amazing colors, fantastic details, and wonderful pose.
Couldn't have presented the head in a better position to show off the facial markings.
TFS. : )

Hallo Redzlan
An absolute beauty! The colours on this bird reminds me of the colours found on a packet of "Jelly baby" sweets, and just as sweet they are, just as sweet is this bird to look at. I dislike the name "common" because what I see in front of me is anything but common. The variation of colours are vivid and striking, well seperated from one another. Like puzzle pieces just fitting into each other at the right place. The red lipstick beak, paws and circled eye are just a few features to mention looking at this Common Green Magpie, but belief me I see plenty more. Your camerawork here is great, with good focus and sharpness. I also like the green leaves that create a frame in the image. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Redzlan,
A superb capture of a Common Green Magpie! Great that luck was on your side and that you were able to take this without the need to crop. The POV, sharpness and colours are excellent it its natural habitat.
Perhaps you were a little too close as the tail is clipped off but it's a fine shot and thanks for sharing it with us.
Best regards,
