Hello Friends
this shot is taken with additional 18mm Kenko Extension tube.

Insect eyes are one of the most prominent features of many insect heads and they vary tremendously in
colour, whether an insect is camouflaged or coloured to advertise itself as unpleasant to potential
predators or as attractive to potential mates, the colour and pattern of the eyes is very important!
Adult insects have one pair of
compound eyes. As the name suggests, the compound eye is made up of a series of 'eyes' compounded
together - that is they have many lenses. Each lens is part of a prismatic unit called an ommatidium (plural
ommatidia). Each ommatidium appears on the surface as a single polygon or dome, called a facet.

Hello Foozi,
A great macro with fine sharp details showing the head of this Skimmer Dragonfly. Flash was well used to illuminate with too much glare. The natural colours and composition are excellent.

Hello Foozi,
Impressive picture with perfect sharpness and good presentation. I'm not so much fan of close-ups on insect-eyes, my points here go to the photographer's skill :-)

Excellent photograph, excellent sharpness, outstanding composition, good background.

Hi Foozi,
An extension tube symphony, I must add. I don't know how I missed this fantastic shot so far... Breathtaking details on the skimmer's head, and great to see the moirée effect on his eyes. :-) Incredible light management, too, a proper usage of flash. Excellent portrait. :-) Huge congratulations for this masterpiece. However, do you have an idea why his nose is dented? :-)
Best regards, László
