[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Mongolian gazelles (Procapra gutturosa) on the horizon. These were a portion of a much larger herd that was probably approaching 10,000 individuals.

Vast grasslands dominate Eastern Mongolia, covering well over 800,000 sq km when considering overflow into China's Inner Mongolia. This comparatively dwarfs the Serengeti in terms of sheer area(30,000 sq km). There is great potential for change in this ecosystem as the double threat of oil development and climate variability are becoming increasingly apparent.

Hi Jeff

An 'of the moment' capture. The balance between the fleeing herd and the two individuals on the opposite side is very good. Must have been a difficult capture - everytime we saw gazelles they took off at speed.

Best wishes

James
