was für ein hübscher schmetterling, sabine! :-)
und dazu noch in freiheit....
ich frage mich, wie er wohl von vorne aussieht,
er scheint ein paar interessante weiße flecken
am kopf zu haben.
die pflanzen drumherum sehen auch nicht
da hast du wieder mal alles gut kombiniert.
bin mal gespannt auf die nächsten schnappschüsse.
danke & grüße, thor.

super so eine Schoenheit in der freien natur zu finden, da hat sich der Urlaub ja doppelt gelohnt ;-).
Hallo, it is ofen not easy to come close to tropical swallow tail butterflies like this one. It is beautifully embedded in the vegetation. Although it has no tails, it is a species of the family Papilionidae. Its name is Chilasa clytia. It is distributed in South and South east Asia including India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Andaman Island and the Philippines. A nice picture of this species.

Nice butterfly and good composition
Hallo Sabine, sehr schönes Schmetterlingspotrait vom Common Mime (Chlias clytia).

It seems that when ever you post a photo of an animal without knowing the ID, somebody will pop up and let you know....isn't TN just great!
What an excellent photo with such good detail throughout the entire shot. The colors and sharpness are super. I am just amazed about the aperture you managed to get without any over exposure.

Great natural shot of the Common Mime.
Always difficult to get a good POV in nature, especially when you're only in a country for a short time. You did well.

Hi SAbine, wonderful shot, vith so strong coloures. I see your equipment is excelent and you know how to us it. TFS
While it is no great sin not to know the ID of a specific animal, insect, flower, bird, etc. I believe it is our responsibility to update our notes once we do receive the 'correct' ID. However, having said that it is not always as easy or clear cut as one might think. Although I have great respect and appreciation for those who go out of their way (sometimes to extreme lengths) to assist with ID's, I would still caution that the responsibility remains with the photographer to ensure that the information received are correct before any notes are updated or supplied.
I do not know enough about butterflies so it is far from me to start a debate surrounding ID, but I took a look at the different ID's/names that was mentioned above and I have my doubts about their validity. I did a bit of a search on Google and out of all the pictures I could find that was linked to these names as supplied; there was not one that was a perfect match. I include one trusty source just to stress my point here. Scroll down the page and take a look at the photo at the bottom. This is simmilar to most of the images I found on Google's page for images. You will notice that there is quite a bit of variation, some of them probably way off the mark as well, but there is nothing close enough to guarantee a match.
As I said, I do not know enough about butterflies so I am not trying to make an issue out of it. Unfortunately and sadly I am not able to point you in any other direction for I have no better clue what the correct ID might be.
I like your photo with this chocolaty coloured butterfly. Your composition is great and the colours are marvellous. The photo shows great details and excellent contrast and the lighting was very well managed.
Great work and TFS.

I Missed your pictures a lot( coz i did not have much time) great capture , you must be loving your trip to Asia (BTW are you still in Burma?).
Great picture of a butterfly in its natural habitat.
You wonder and appreciate not having a butterfly park in Asia but i would like to add that, i would love to have a butterfly park here, it not only helps in spreading awareness of these beautiful insects but also in saving them from Habitat loss!!)
