White Plume Moth. Pterophorus pentadactyla
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 26-34 mm.

Probably the most distinctive of the 'Plume' moths, and one of the largest. Its wings are deeply divided into several 'fingers', each of which is finely feathered, or plumed.

Quite common over much of Britain, inhabiting dry grassland, waste ground and gardens.

The adults fly from dusk onwards in June and July, and sometimes have a second generation in September.

The caterpillars overwinter and feed on bindweed

Hello Leo,

Strange insect, nice picture, good details and composition.

Hallo Leonid
I was wondering what happened to you and are glad to see you are back.
Like always your presentation is done with pride and utter care and I appreciate you for that. This moth has fine and delicate features, and the close-up frame highlights it even better. The subtle details are clearly seen and the overall sharpness is excellent. Thanks for sharing this beautiful “angel” with us. It is much appreciated.
Best regards

How is it clinging it to the grass stalk. I can see all legs in air, except 2! Good capture and its nice to see the details in white. composition is not bad and POV is also good. Did you shoot with any other POV's

Hello Leonid !
Yes, this is truly an angel ! I love the wings who look like feathers, the white color, the pose of the insect looking directly at you. The blurred BG is splendid, the colors are soft and natural, the composition as well as POV and details are excellent. Very well done !
