Claudine is right James, Polar Bears were just added to the endangered species list. It is a great shot, but I would have cropped a bit from behind and below the Bear. I will show you in workshop.:)

Welcome to TN
This is a really great shot. Maybe a little too centered, but to see this magnificent animal in its natural environment is very special. Thank you! :-)

A very nice shot of this polar beer in his natural habitat, well seen and captured,I suppose he is running away from the noise of icebreaking!!

It might not be a perfect shot but it is a precious one. It is something that you were very lucky to witness as unfortunately, I think that this kind of scenery will be less and less common in the future. This is a beautiful capture of this majestic animal in its environment. I envy you :) Well done and TFS,

a very nice picture of the polar bear.
Good details and POV You show us well environs where he lives on and the ice is beautiful in the forms and pattern.

I planned to comment this picture twice but always it was where the points were ended...
But finally I am here :)
Very interesting wide perspective and very good idea for good picture. And the effect is really amazing :)
By the way, when I was on Spitsbergen I had no luck to see white bear, or maybe - I saw but in differet POV ;) The first was in TVset (in Polish Polar station in Hornsund there was a programme from Berlin's ZOO ;>), the second was a dead one (only the bones...), and the third - on the T-shirt in Longerbyean ;)
So, you were really lucky to see it alive! :)

What I especially like about this photo is that it is an excellent composition that breaks all the rules - subject dead center in the photo. Excellent photo.

Hi James, really an artistic picture, even tough its cropped the surrounding is very nice.

Wow - nice shot, well done. Perhaps too centered, could be placed in the right hand side a bit to emphasize the direction that the bear is moving in. Rule of thirds.
What a wonderful photo, the lines, the bear, the clarity!
