Sooty-Headed Bulbul
(Pycnonotus aurigaster) 白喉红臀鹎
Size: 20 cm

Note black head contrasting with pale cheeks; under parts light grey; vent either red or yellow.

A soft chatter with whistling and harsher notes.

Mainly an open woodland species found in open country with scattered trees, cultivated areas and gardens; often seen near rural villages, but not in towns. A vocal and conspicuous bird, always moves about in small flocks, flying restlessly between the small trees and bushes, perching low.

Uncommon resident breeder in the island.
