Von Schrenck’s Bittern
(Ixobrychus eurhythmus) 紫背苇鳽
Size: 38 cm
Description:
Male has a uniformly pale brown under-parts contrasting with black brown upper-parts.
Voice:
Low squaks in flight.
Habits:
During migration frequents grassy freshwater swamps and river banks. It thrives in thick vegetation, but sometimes emerges into open areas. It may be somewhat crepuscular.
Distribution:
Rare winter visitors in the island. |
