Red-Crowned Barbet
(Megalaima rafflesii)
Size: 25 cm
Description:
Distinguished with difficulty from other barbets by its diagnostic full red crown.
Voice:
A resonate took-took, then a pause followed by a longer series of notes.
Habits:
A lowland rainforest bird. Lives in primary forest, in nearby disturb forest and along forest edges. The numbers of this bird are getting very low due to limited forested areas. Sometimes this bird may be seen in fruiting trees, clambering in the foliage, picking fruits.
Distribution:
Uncommon resident and breeder in the island. |

What a magnificant looking barbet. I am envious of your beautiful capture. The vertical composition for birds clung to trees are always nice to view, I like how you gave your subject plenty of room. Well done. :)
